About Jan Antauer

Jan Antauer at Java Jan Gourmet Coffee

A Dublin, Ohio resident since 1998, I spent 18 years working for The Columbus Dispatch in the advertising department, and  have also worked in pharmaceutical sales.

In 2007, I began selling coffee at at local community festivals, markets, and other events, fine-tuning my barista skills through face-to-face customer sales, and developing a strong brand loyalty. I have worked closely with several private roasters that consistently provide Java Jan Gourmet Coffee with perfect blends for the discriminating coffee drinkers – always roasted in small batches to insure freshness, and flavor at its peak.

Eventually one of my customers, Triad Architects president Peter Macrae, nudged me toward establishing a storefront, and helped me find our charming location at the heart of downtown Dublin Ohio in the Dr. McKitrick House (16 N High St.), which is listed by the National Register of Historic Places.

Peter knew that Linda Kick, owner of Our CupCakery in the same building, was looking for a coffee business to complement her famous cupcake bar, cookies, muffins, seasonal breads and pies, pastries, and other bakery treats.

After some weeks of remodeling, we opened our shop next to hers on November 27, 2009. We think this winning combination of coffee and fresh baked goods will become a unique hot spot for the village. (Yes, we do offer free Wi-Fi!)

In addition to a full range of custom blend coffees and specialty beverages, we also sell bulk coffee by custom weight (either whole bean or ground-to-order), single pot bags, and coffee-themed specialty gift items.

The reception to our new store has been wonderful. People say they love visiting our little independent, local coffee shop. Every customer receives a loyalty Beverage Drinkers Sleeve with any beverage – coffee or non-coffee. After buying 5 drinks, you get the 6th FREE. Sure enough, customers are bringing back the sleeves to be punched.
